1. I am a regular buyer of material such as cast Iron scrap. Should I wait for a listing to show up on your Web
site?
- No, you should do the following:
1. List what you want to buy in the appropriate category.
2. View listings for sale for that particular item every day.
2. What if I have an item to buy and/or sell and I cannot find a suitable category, where should I list it?
- Try to narrow it down as much as possible to a particular category or subcategory. If you still cannot make a decision, each category and subcategory has a miscellaneous section. Please contact
mac@scrapexchange.com
if you would like our engineer to determine the best placement for your item.
3. Will a form that is partially completed be accepted and posted on the site?
- In most cases, you will get an error message. Therefore, we recommend that you answer all questions as thoroughly as possible. For those you cannot or do not wish to answer, place an X or N/A in the box.
4. Is there a minimum amount for listings?
- It depends. We set no minimum or maximum amounts. You have to use your judgment. If you have 100 lbs. of Aluminum cans to sell, we suggest that you sell to your local scrap yard. But if you have 10 lbs. of gold
bearing material, by all means list it. Dollar value should override the quantity factor.
- In the Prime/Usables category, if you have small quantities of various sizes you can list this as one lot. In the description field, enter the range of sizes and suggest that interested parties call for
additional details.
5. Material specifications, physical conditions and credit worthiness are a major concern whether I am buying or selling
material or equipment. What do you suggest?
- We suggest that you check business & credit references and get as much information as possible including environmental concerns. scrapexchange.com provided you with a basic lead. Now it is your job to take
the appropriate safeguards when doing business. scrapexchange.com does not check or know the credibility of any listing party and is not responsible or liable for the accuracy of the information presented.
6. If I do buy and/or sell based on the connection I made through your Web site listings, would I be paying commission to
scrapexchange.com?
- Absolutely not. You make your deals through negotiations, and you deserve to keep your profit. All we are interested in is seeing you make bigger and better deals.
7. Would scrapexchange.com sell my name and information to anther party?
- The answer is NO!
8. We have our own Web site. Can we place a button or banner advertisement on your scrapexchange.com?
- Yes, there are a variety of different advertising opportunities available. Contact the advertising department by e-mail
info@scrapexchange.com
or phone at 724-250-1090 for more information.
9. I have some unique metals in my yard. What would be the best way to list them?
- First, you have to determine if they can be reused as good products or are suitable for melting as scrap metals. If you determine that they are usable, go to Prime/Usables and find suitable category matchs. If
no matchs are found, go into Miscellaneous Materials and list your items.
- If you determine that the metals are scrap, go into Scrap Metals, find suitable categories & subcategories and list the items for sale.
10. We have a metal service center. We always have good leftovers such as coil, sheet, plate, bar, and billets. Can we list
them in the Prime/Usables category?
- Yes. There is a strong demand from overseas for reusable materials. You can consolidate the sizes, total the quantities, and list it as a single lot. Let the interested parties contact you for details.
11. Can I list new machinery in the machinery section?
- Yes, this section is for both old and new machinery. Dealers are welcome to enter items for sale!
